We have now confirmed the dates of the FOFATO/FAIB Conferences/Annual General Meeting 2017 at the Alma Lodge Hotel, Stockport, Cheshire SK2 6EL on Thursday 5th October 2017 (Covering Training Providers from the North of England and Scotland and at the HertsFire Training & Development Centre, Longfield, Stevenage, Hertfordshire SG1 4AE on Thursday 26th October 2017 (Covering the south of England).
As people in the First Aid Industry are aware I have been involved for over 20 years and was Head of First Aid for the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) from 1995-2007. I have always been vocal and passionate about the numbers of people being trained in First Aid as well as wanting to raise the standards of First Aid training in the workplace.
I was asked to create The First Aid Industry Body (FAIB) by a number of Ex-HSE First Aid Training Providers in 2012 and it has now become a Nationally recognised name within the regulation of First Aid training.
I have recently been approached from stakeholders within the First Aid Industry about creating an Award for Childcare settings that recognises excellent staff knowledge within Paediatric First Aid.
I spoke to Paul Oates (Childcare Providers and Regulation) at the Dept. for Education regarding the creation of an Award and he said “Genuine award schemes designed to ensure that more people in childcare settings have the Paediatric first aid training they need so that they are able to deal with accidents and injuries for very young children are to be welcomed”.
“The Department of Education welcomes such schemes provided all are aimed at ensuring that staff in childcare settings are well trained and able to respond to emergencies quickly. I hope that the ‘In Safe Hands award’ scheme is successful in doing that”.
Following a number of discussions with interested parties within the First Aid Industry the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB) has now created the “In Safe Hands Award” – with the support of Flat Stan First Aid and Cardiac Science – to enable Nurseries, Pre-schools and Childminders to be recognised for strengthening their Paediatric First Aid skills and capabilities.

We have listened to our Registered Training Providers/Members and subsequently arranged a Conference in the South of England this year.

We are still considering Conferences in Stockport & Mid Scotland for later this year and would be grateful if you could express your interest by email to firstname.lastname@example.org so we have an idea of possible numbers for both these areas.
FAIB Gains Recognition by HSE
The HSE e-bulletin issued on 8th June 2016 finally gives FAIB the recognition from HSE that we have been seeking since October 2013.
We will now work to ensure that other HSE sources of information on First Aid (Website, ACOP, Employer Guidance and Skills for Health) are amended to ensure that a Level Playing Field in terms of choice is achieved. Please click here to view the latest HSE Newsletter and scroll down to the bottom of the page.
FOFATO/FAIB have now produced a range of First Aid books including FAW, EFAW and Paediatric First Aid.
These books were ready for distribution in November 2015 following consultation with over 100 of our Registered Training Providers and discussion at our Conference in October 2015.
However following the publication of the UK and European Guidelines we made a decision (unlike some other publishers) to hold back on distribution until an agreement has been reached across the First Aid Industry. We did this so that consistency could be reached across the First Aid Industry.
These books will be available by the end of February 2016.
We are pleased to let you know that FAIB has now been awarded 3rd Party Certification via Alcumus Isoqar a UKAS Accredited Certification Body.
The Management System of FAIB has been approved and is compliant with ISO 9001.
The scope of the Registration covers the Regulation of First Aid Training Providers and First Aid Trainers/Assessors.
You will now see the UKAS logo on the FAIB website
Reserve your place now for the Conference on Wednesday 21st October 2015 at the Cheshire Conference Centre – Stockport. Please contact us for more details : email@example.com
