Welcome to the Federation of First Aid Training Organisations

In 2017, we reached our 10th Anniversary of FOFATO.  The Federation of First Aid Training Organisations (FOFATO) was formed in September 2007 by Ian Kershaw MBE (Former Head of the First Aid Approval and Monitoring Section within the Health and Safety Executive from 1996-2007) at the request of Health and Safety Executive approved Training Providers. FOFATO represent around 400 Training Providers across the whole of the United Kingdom.

We are the only Truly Independent organisation of its kind in the First Aid Industry because FOFATO does not directly offer any form of Training.

Through our Membership we offer a large variety of High Quality and Cost Effective First Aid and Health and Safety related Training courses anywhere in the United Kingdom.

All of our Members are checked for Due Diligence and Competence before being accepted.

Employers can contact FOFATO to find a Reputable Training Provider in your area.

FOFATO also offer Quality First Aid Training products as well as other First Aid products at Very Competitive Prices both to Training Providers and Employers.

The majority of FOFATO Members were vigorously against the Ofqual/SQA system from the very beginning and consequently asked FOFATO to create an alternative.

We formed the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB) (www.faib.co.uk) in 2012 which is run through a democratically elected Management Advisory Panel and Medical Advisers made up from Training Providers across the United Kingdom.

The First Aid Industry Body will be run by the First Aid Industry for the First Aid Industry.

Training Providers will be able to register with the FAIB in order to give Employers the assurance of standards (by conducting Due Diligence checks) that is required by the Löfstedt Review. FAIB has also achieved Certification with a United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) accredited certification Body.

The priority of FAIB is about Standards in First Aid Training and we strongly recommend the continuance of at least one Independent Assessor on a First Aid at Work course.

In order to strengthen the Quality Assurance of our system FAIB introduced its own National Register of Trainers/Assessors in 2016.

Every Registered Training Provider will receive a minimum of 1 direct Monitoring Visits from Qualified Inspectors during the 5 Year Approval Period (the focus of this visit is to monitor the Trainer in action).

The FAIB system will allow you to Issue your own certificates and the costs are kept to an absolute minimum.

FAIB is available to Small, Medium and Large Training Providers both in the Public and Private Sectors of Industry and consequently attract all size of Employers both in the Public and Private Sector of Industry to our Accredited Training Providers.

We want to see that an Industry that allows small Training Provider to be able to compete with the Larger Training Provider and so create a Level Playing Field so long as they are all working to the highest possible standards of First Aid training.
